The German Studies Center of Peking University is an interdisciplinary research and educational institution. Faculties from different departments of humanities and social sciences of the university get together being engaged in research and educating students with professional knowledge and knowledge of German society and culture. The GermanStudiesCenter has wide connections and close ties with many universities and research institutions in Germany and China. It is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service Center (DeutscherAkademischer Austausch Dienst), Goethe Institute Beijing Branch, German Embassy in China，Promotion Association of Cultural History, Art & Technology of the German-Chinese Academic Foundation of Peking University (Förderverein derDeutsch-Chinesischen Wissenschaftsstiftung der Peking-UniversitätKulturgeschichte, Kunst & Technik), universities and academic institutions in Germany. The mission of the center includes the following: 

(1)   Introducing the history and the development of German culture and relative academic research

(2)   Providing information services on cultural and academic research to the people of both sides

(3)   Recruiting more students for the German and European studies by introducing the knowledge of humanities, art and social sciences

(4)   Supporting the work of German Department and promoting German language learning

(5)   Organizing cooperative activities and academic exchange among German and Chinese scholars

(6)   Supporting other universities and institutions in China to be engaged in German studies and education concerned

(7)   Developing a comprehensive curriculum, proceed to a Sino-German joint training project for the masters and the doctors

(8)   Making interdisciplinary studies with German colleagues according to the cooperation plan
